But I Like My Porch...
The porch has been deemed OFF LIMITS!!!
Who is making us lose our favorite outdoor space???
It's a cardinal, who has made a nest in the juniper just outside the front door. She is a bit hard to see in the picture, the screen blocks the lens and she blends really well. There are no eggs yet, I'll keep you posted.

The Floor Progresses
The work on the floor has moved into the family room.
The hockey playoffs and some repairs on my car have put us a little behind schedule. Unfortunatly, both the Blue Jackets and the Flyers are no longer in the running so, back to the floor it is.
CJ enjoyed a bit of time with the hammer today. He put a few nails in the subfloor for Steve. The floor project has been a great time to get rid of all those squeaks!!
With only one small section of the family room left to do, I need to get back to painting the baseboards. With any luck they will be needed next weekend!

Signs of Spring
Baseball in Columbus
Last night was our first time to the new Clippers ballpark, Huntington Park.
We went in with some pretty high expectations. The old Cooper Stadium was a great place to watch a ballgame and we enjoyed many games there.
Huntington Park is very different, but a great experience. We sat on the third base line and enjoyed the thrill of several foul balls. The wind was blowing just right for a bunch of home runs, one was just inside our foul line. It was a great night for baseball and we will definitely go back!
Friends
Last weekend it was Tucker's turn to have a friend spend the night. Miley came to visit. She and Tucker played and played and played and then played some more.

Crab Time / Bath Time
Six of the seven crabs got a bath tonight. Neville came out of hiding only after bathtime was over. It's hard to tell if the others enjoyed bathtime, but they certainly enjoyed playtime. Clockwise from the left are Harry, Frodo, Bill, Hermiot, Hagrid and Thor in the green shell.
Dickens especially enjoys watching the crab crew run around.
And, Tucker was just happy to be included.

Easter trip to the Z's
The trip started out a bit stormy on Friday - lots of rain on the way, however it didn't hinder our spirits. CJ spent a lot of time reading and staring at his stuffed bunny saying that, "it's a good thing you're not chocolate, or Mom might have eaten your ears too!"
Tucker , or should I say Shotgun is having a great trip too. Plenty of walks and playtime with cousins - even in the pouring rain. This morning we took a walk down to Manayunk's Pretzel park. There's a dog park there, but unfortunately no bow wows were out.
The Easter Bunny visited Grandpa Z's house, but unfortunately there's no little boy to enjoy the goodies. For whatever reason, he decided to pull an all-nighter watching movies with Uncle Mark and a sleepover to boot. We are expecting the youngster any minute.

A Visit With Bunny
CJ hung out with Bunny today. They had lots of fun together, exploring starship building websites, learning the Mac, talking about books, modern day pirates, and screwed hips. CJ got lots of sympathy from his grandmother concerning the bunny ears incident.
Steve, calm and subdued before the Flyers game.

What were they thinking?
But what happened to the ears?
CJ has been quite sure that he would get to his Easter basket this year before the bunny's ears dissapeared. Not wanting to take a chance I bought a bunny, ate the ears and left it at his place at the table.
Yes, this could be considered cheating, but the look on CJ's face was worth it. Mom strikes again!

Mom Knows Best
If only mom listened to her own advice!!! Never use a knife to open things, that's what scissors are for.
I thought it was a pretty good cut, not only was there blood, but my stomach was quesy. Ten minutes later it was still bleeding so I showed it to Steve. His reaction confirmed my suspision - 'wow, that's pretty deep'. He put a bandaid on it and wrapped it in hockey tape. The blood spurted out of the tape. Steve assured me that it would take several days for me to bleed to death and that I should 'suck it up'. Spoken like a true hockey player.
So, I went down the street to the Capretta's for a second opinion. Phil (the ex NICU nurse) agreed with Steve, but did clean it out and suggested that I wrap it up good.
Steve was right, yet again, I did not need stitches and it has stopped bleeding.
Next time I will listen to my own advice.
